How to Make Exercise Fun

This article is for those of you that just don’t like the concept of exercising, think it’s too much of a hassle or who need exercise ideas.  I’m going on the assumption of course that you now know why exercise is so important, after reading my previous post.  Now that you know the why of exercising, let’s get down to business.

First things first – like I said when I started these three posts, my goal is to get you to want to make the choice to exercise over the myriad of other choices available to you.  That’s why I started with its amazing benefits first.  Now however, it’s time to make exercise appealing to you.  How, you might ask?

Well, for starters, exercising doesn’t mean that you have to go buy a gym membership.  Negotiating traffic every day and driving halfway across town only to get on a treadmill and fight the urge to go have a beer can be frustrating at times.  Gyms are often great, but if you don’t like them, don’t have one close by or simply can’t afford one, there are plenty of other options.

Understanding the Benefits of Exercise

Building on my previous post, in step one of my three-part series about undertaking and succeeding at an exercise regimen, I will explain its wide-ranging physiological benefits.  First, a word of caution, however.  No matter what I or anyone else may say, you will fail long-term without the right attitude.

You have to really want to improve yourself.  Perhaps your goal is to lose weight.  Perhaps it is to feel better and be healthier.  Maybe it’s to live longer.  Whatever your objective, no one can spoon feed you various information recipes and magically turn you into something you’re not without effort from you.  You’ve got to want this, and you’ve got to want it badly.  Ready?  If so, read on!

Exercising - How to NOT Be a New Year’s Resolution Quitter

As individuals, we all do things according to the value we perceive in doing them.  Right now I’m sitting at an airport writing this article because I perceive it to be the best possible value to me at the moment.  Someone else in my position might choose to read a book or magazine.  Still others might get some food, talk on the phone, go online, etc.  At any given moment in our day, we choose to work, play, sleep, eat or do any number of other activities because we value that particular activity at that particular time above all other choices of activities that are available to us.

Exercise is just like any other activity in the sense that it is a choice available to us.  My objective is to get you to actually make the choice to exercise regularly of your own free will, assuming that you do not already do so.  In order to do that, you must begin to value the choice of exercise more than you value any other choice available to you.  That is no easy task, but I love a good challenge, so listen up!

Are You Destined to be Fat?

Each passing day we learn more and more about why people get fat and why many people stay fat.  It is a frustrating situation for everyone as obesity has quite literally turned into an epidemic in the United States.  If you are not fat, you almost certainly know someone closely who is.

Being overweight is a major contributor to cardiovascular disease, several types of cancer, diabetes and more.  That probably isn’t shocking to anyone, as we have known this for quite some time.  What is shocking is that so many people truly believe that certain individuals (perhaps even themselves) are going to be fat no matter what they do.  Bologna.

How to Avoid Getting Sick This Winter

Getting sick by catching a cold or flu virus isn’t exactly what most people look forward to every year.  What if I told you that you might be able to prevent some of those illnesses?  Since there is no cure for the common cold or flu, the only effective means we have of combating them is to prevent them in the first place.

Even if you could only prevent just one of the colds that you get every year, wouldn’t it be worth it?  Imagine no sneezing, coughing, sore throat, vomiting, aching or misery at all for that 1-2 week stretch.  Best of all, this is possible without the use of drugs or supplements of any kind, although an annual flu vaccine is something you should consider.
