Each passing day we learn more and more about why people get fat and why many people stay fat. It is a frustrating situation for everyone as obesity has quite literally turned into an epidemic in the United States. If you are not fat, you almost certainly know someone closely who is.
Being overweight is a major contributor to cardiovascular disease, several types of cancer, diabetes and more. That probably isn’t shocking to anyone, as we have known this for quite some time. What is shocking is that so many people truly believe that certain individuals (perhaps even themselves) are going to be fat no matter what they do. Bologna.
Allow me to set the record straight, folks. No human being ever born is or was destined to be fat. This is nothing more than an excuse to take the road to Easyville. Persons that hide behind such excuses do so in order to justify being overweight. The only way you are guaranteed to get what you want in this life is through hard work – you can’t count on good luck coming your way. It is no different than with smokers – no one is destined to smoke, either.
Now for a little clarification – through our genes, there is variation from person to person concerning the ease with which we accumulate fat. Right now it looks as if there may be as many as several genes responsible for this, although environmental factors also contribute significantly. Genetically speaking, we have to play the cards that are dealt to us, but we can mitigate the bad cards in that hand to a very great degree by how we live.
I demonstrate how to begin doing just that in the articles I have written thus far (with more to come). Even if someone were to have every “fat gene” activated that exists, there is no excuse or any reason whatsoever why they have to be fat. By eating healthy (and very enjoyably I might add) and getting at least the recommended daily allowance of fiber, such persons have taken an important first step in permanent weight loss. The other step of course, is regular and plentiful physical activity.
What is so amazing about this is that there is no need to diet to lose weight, folks. Dieting is just plain hard, and some aren’t very safe. With the healthy lifestyle that I advocate, a very nice side effect is weight loss. Not only are you healthier from a nutritional standpoint, but if you are overweight, you’re going to need to cinch up that belt very soon. Even faster weight loss occurs in direct proportion to how active you are. It’s completely up to you, and that’s exactly my point. Make our own destiny.
