Are You Destined to be Fat?

Each passing day we learn more and more about why people get fat and why many people stay fat.  It is a frustrating situation for everyone as obesity has quite literally turned into an epidemic in the United States.  If you are not fat, you almost certainly know someone closely who is.

Being overweight is a major contributor to cardiovascular disease, several types of cancer, diabetes and more.  That probably isn’t shocking to anyone, as we have known this for quite some time.  What is shocking is that so many people truly believe that certain individuals (perhaps even themselves) are going to be fat no matter what they do.  Bologna.

As I mentioned previously, included in this post is a summary of my 15-tip series on how to lose weight forever.  This enables you to view them all in just one location; for greater detail, you can always revisit the original articles.  I would suggest printing the summary and re-reading individual articles as often as necessary.

I know that I’ve said this a lot since I first began Tips4BetterHealth.com just two months ago, but I’m going to bash diets at least one more time.  Please don’t look at anything I’ve written as endorsing or promoting a diet of any kind.  It’s just the opposite, actually.  They set you up for failure folks – you have got to think in terms of a lifestyle choice instead.  This means that you are changing your life and habits permanently, not just until you lose 20 or even 200 pounds.  You will be amazed at the difference this makes, both from a physical and from a mental standpoint.

15 Ways to Lose Weight Forever (Part XII)

Tip #14 is slightly more subtle in that I’m not going to talk about consuming your food – I’m going to instead talk about how to prepare and cook healthy food to help you lose weight.  How we treat our food after purchase but before consumption can have a major impact on its nutritional properties and calorie content.  For example, two seemingly identical muffins can in fact vary dramatically, with one containing obscene amounts of saturated fats, sugar and calories, while the other is actually quite respectable.

15 Ways to Lose Weight Forever (Part XI)

Reducing your alcohol consumption is another way to help lose weight.  As good as it is, alcohol has a surprisingly high calorie count.  To make matters worse, those calories are empty calories with no significant nutritional value.  Drinking calories in any form is something to be very careful of in general, but most especially with alcohol.  Not only don’t you have to work to consume drinkable calories (no chewing), but there is no work to digest them either, so energy expenditure is at an absolute minimum to help burn them off and lose weight.
